Welcome to The Long Play Groove

About the Station

This station was created for listeners who remember when music wasn’t just background noise, it was a feeling, a moment, a lifestyle.

Why This Station Exists?

Much of the music you hear on this station was never part of mainstream radio.
For many of us living in Toronto, the only way to hear certain songs was catch them at specialty clubs, a basement party or be lucky enough to know a DJ where the music ran deeper than the charts.

Growing up, I discovered a lot of this music in those spaces, and sometimes late at night on WBLK out of Buffalo, when the signal came through clearly enough, weather permitting. Those moments mattered. Hearing music you couldn’t easily find shaped my taste, my ear, and my connection to sound.

This station was created to share that experience.

It’s a place for the songs that lived between the lines, the records that filled dance floors at hot spots, house parties, and late-night drives, but rarely got consistent radio play. These tracks weren’t just music; they were part of a scene, a time, a feeling.

My goal is simple: to bring listeners back to those moments and give them a place where those favorites live again, consistently, intentionally, and with care.

This is where you come when you want to hear those songs.
The ones you remember.
The ones you don’t hear everywhere.
The ones that still move you.

We are a curated online radio station dedicated to the sounds that shaped generations: R&B, Old-School Hip-Hop, Disco, Funk, Classic House, Reggae, Jazz, and soulful Slow Jams.
From dance floors and basement parties to late-night drives and quiet moments at home, this is music that lives in the memory and moves the soul.

Our programming is intentionally music-first. You won’t hear excessive chatter interrupting the flow. Every show is thoughtfully curated and scheduled to deliver a consistent, immersive listening experience, just press play and let the music take you back.

Our Philosophy

We believe:

  • Music should flow, not be rushed.

  • Classics deserve respect and space.

  • DJs are curators, not interrupters.

  • Nostalgia isn’t old, it’s timeless.

Each show is built around a mood, an era, or a feeling, whether it’s:

  • The early roots of Hip-Hop.

  • The elegance and energy of Disco.

  • Golden-era House for those who lived the culture.

  • Old-School R&B and Funk that still hits today.

  • Slow jams for late nights and deep reflection.

Designed for Real Listeners.

This station is for people who:

  • Want to hear music you won’t find on mainstream playlists.

  • Appreciate deep cuts as much as timeless classics.

This is radio for grown listeners, true music lovers, and anyone who knows that some songs don’t age, they mature.

More Than a Station, It’s a Vibe.

This isn’t about trends.
This isn’t about algorithms.
This is about preserving a sound and a feeling.

Where music with soul lives.
